Andrea Parker,
known for her dark experimental electro sets and sublime productions,
and her own imprint Touchin’ Bass !
It is quickly becoming a firm fixture on the electronic music radar.
With 13 releases under its belt, some of the artists include: Egg
FooYoung
(from Miami’s Secret Frequency Crew), Ben Milstein, RD, Chaotic State,
ADJ, Hydraulix, Crunch, Bass Junkie, Sync 24, Andrea Parker and David
Morley, plus a collaboration between herself and Detroit’s DJ
Godfather and DJ Assault.
Touchin’ Bass has become one of the world’s premier electro labels.
Parker has contributed to several experimental electronic releases
through out her career, including “Inky Blacknuss “(with Alex Knight),
“Two Sandwiches Short Of A Lunchbox” (with David Morley) on R&S
Records. “Angular Art” on Infonet records. She then signed an album
deal with Mo Wax records and released the acclaimed singles ‘Melodious
Thunk’ and ‘The Rocking Chair’.
In 1999, came the release of her widely acclaimed debut album, ‘Kiss
My Arp’, and more recently, Andrea has released a mini album; The Dark
Ages on Belgium’s Quatermass label and has remixed many artists from
Depeche Mode, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tipper, Lamb to Steve Reich !
Miss Parkers DJ style is uncompromising and crosses no boundries,
which makes her performances diverse and never predictable. She’s
supported Radiohead on the US part of their Kid A tour, experimented
live on stage with avant-garde supremos : Bang On A Can (Philip Glass
and Steve Reich) and provided more than a little entertainment at
parties for director Roman Polanski and fashion house; Gucci. Her
popularity as a DJ was confirmed by the high sales of her mix for K7’s
DJ Kicks series which showcased the variety of her musical tastes;
she’s not afraid to fuse hip hop pioneers like Man Parish with
electronic pusher’s Gescom.
