Almudena was born in 1977 in Benavente and moved to Madrid when she was a child. Her modeling carreer started after high school when she finished second in the Supermodel of the World contest sponsored by Spanish Elle.
The grueling competition pitted Spain's most beautiful teens against each other and, after all was said and done, she finished second. The recognition from this early success was huge, as the contest was sponsored by Spanish Elle. She used the good name of the magazine to enter the European version of the competition, finishing runner-up once again.
She quickly worked with famous brands or designers such as Lacoste, Hermes, Alain Manoukian, Bisou-Bisou, Olivier Strelli, Hanro and Wolford... She also appeared on the covers of prestigious magazines like Elle or Cosmopolitan
As Fernandez continued to fill up her resume with work for Revlon, L'Oral, Kenneth Cole, Parasuco, and Victoria's Secret, European and American fashion pundits began to give her that illustrious "supermodel" tag. Cover appearances in Elle and Cosmopolitan helped the rare name of "Almudena" become very familiar.
A budding relationship with male model Antonio Macian has helped her stay rooted in the Big Apple of late, but no slowdown in work habits is on the horizon.
